Glam Rocker Release First Single For The Dance Floor

New York, NY: This week, glam rocker Ricky Rebel releases his first single to the dance floor.? Produced by Hector Fonseca and Tommy Love, ?Star? is about the androgynous artist?s tremendous will to succeed on his own terms.? Rebel dresses the way he wants and doesn’t follow trends; he creates them.? ?If you want something, you have to shout out loud to the world what you want,? says Ricky Rebel. ?Dreams locked inside will never become real.? That?s why I?m not afraid to proclaim that I am a star.? ?It?s what I desire and it?s who I am.? Along with the single, Ricky Rebel is unleashing a party themed music video that features him and his dancers, the Rebel Mafia, in all their voguing fierceness. Ricky Rebel?s ?Star? and its remixes are available on iTunes and all major online retailers now.

?I always had this feeling inside me that I was meant to do big things with my life,? explains Ricky Rebel from his Hollywood home. ?I remember when I was a kid taking a family photo. I told the photographer that I needed to take a solo shot with these cool glasses I had brought along because ?I’m going to be a star when I grow up,?? he laughs. ?My parents framed that photo and keep it at their house.?

Ricky draws inspiration from some of the greatest performing artists of all time:? Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Prince, Madonna, and Michael Jackson.? He admires musicians with strong images who are larger than their music; who have the charisma and stamina to carry out long shows by themselves. ?I’m inspired by production,? he says.

It?s why the former professional dancer? (Ricky starred in the New York City Kennedy Center ballet production of Pepito?s Story, directed and choreographed by Debbie Allen, and was a featured dancer in the movie, Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery) felt the urge to add electronic dance music into his live rock show.? ?I wanted to find a way to incorporate dance into my act but needed the right sound. EDM is the perfect compliment to my glam-rock pop tracks. It?s made the live show tighter.?

He and his band are preparing to open for large acts in the near future and are hoping to secure a residency in Las Vegas.? Last year, he signed with David Keeton, a leading live theatre producer in Los Angeles.

Ricky burst on the music scene in 1997 as the lead vocalist of the boy-band No Authority. Signed by Michael Jackson to Michael?s own MJJ Music label at Sony, the band toured with 98 Degrees, Destiny?s Child, Aaron Carter, and Ashlee and Jessica Simpson. ? In 2000, the band moved to Madonna?s Maverick label where they released ?Can I Get Your Number?, a song that peaked at #33 on the Billboard Top 40 chart.? Another song, ?I?m Telling You This?, appeared on the Rugrats in Paris soundtrack. While with Maverick, the band toured with Britney Spears.

In 2004, No Authority broke up and Ricky became the lead vocalist of the band, Harlow. Additionally, he did voice-over work for films including Apollo 13, Anywhere But Here (starring Susan Sarandon and Natalie Portman), and Anastasia (he appears on the soundtrack) and appeared on television in episodes of American Dreams, Boston Public, and Audrina.

Ricky went solo as Ricky Rebel in 2012. Since then, he has released two albums: Manipulator featuring the singles ?Geisha Dance?, ?Get It On? and ?You Need a Woman? and The Blue Album featuring ?Star?.? World-renowned DJs Hector Fonseca and Tommy Love approached Rebel with the idea to remix ?Star? for the dance floor.

?The remix is sexy,? says Ricky Rebel. ?It pulses, throbs and thumps.?

He feels the high-energy, provocative sound compliments the song?s message.? ?I think using sexuality and animal charisma is a big part of being a star.?

Rebel enlisted the film company, Poof Films, to produce the video. Louis Easton directs and Chancelor Dayne choreographed the vogue routines.

?Chancelor was a tremendous help in executing the vision. He and I really got Rebel Mafia to give every ounce of blood and sweat they had in the video so it showcased all of our collective talents. I’m clearly not the only star here. My band and dancers prove in ?Star? that they are mega talented too.?

Ricky manages to get his patented Rebel Standing Split into the video.? ?That’s my go to red carpet move,? he explains. ?It’s quite popular with the paparazzi. When I’m in front of the cameras, the photographers always yell out ?Rebel, give us the leg!?

?I want my fans to know that there is message behind the fierceness,? he continues.? ?I hope to encourage everyone to rebel against darkness and shine their personal lights.? We?re all stars. We?re all beautiful.

?I?m the champion for all dreamers who aspire to make it happen; a Rebel with a cause.?
