NEW YORK,?Nov. 15, 2013?/PRNewswire/ — Six hundred panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, which has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, will be on display at?The City College of New York?(http://www.ccny.cuny.edu/).
This exhibit of sections of the 54-ton, handmade tapestry stands as a striking memorial to the lives of countless individuals lost to AIDS. The City College display is the largest of its kind in America, according to?Brian Holman, National Display Coordinator for the NAMES Project Foundation. The Quilt is being presented as part of The City College World AIDS Day Educational Series in collaboration with the?City University’s LGBT Task Force?(https://www.facebook.com/CUNYLGBT/info)?and will be open to the community for?free public display and educational programming.
Viewing locations: The Center for Worker Education (CWE) – 7th Floor, 25 Broadway,?8 p.m. – 9 p.m.,?Monday, December 2nd;?9 a.m. – 9 p.m.,?Tuesday, December 3rd;?9 a.m. – 6 p.m.,?December 4th.? The Quilt will also be on display at the Great Hall of Shepard Hall in City College’s main campus at 160 Convent Avenue?December 5th?and 6th?from?10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
