A gay police officer in California was not allowed to participate in the West Hollywood Gay Pride Parade because according to his superiors it would bring “discredit” to his department. after he filed a complaint the CDCR have granted him permission to use the uniform in the upcoming Gay Pride Parade.

Gloria Allred is repping the California officer, who made a written request to march in uniform with other gay law enforcement officers and citizens. Allred says the Department responded in writing that the march would be a “discredit” to the cop shop
The officer filed a complaint and now he is allowed to participate in the Gay Parade.
Officer Andrew Johnson and Allred held a news conference today and filed a complaint, alleging the Department was guilty of discrimination based on sexual orientation when it refused to allow Johnson to march in uniform, on grounds it would be a “discredit” to the Department.
The Department now says, “CDCR acknowledges that [its policy] is outdated and requires careful revision. Therefore, Correctional Officer Andrew Johnson will be allowed to wear the CDCR uniform in the upcoming Gay Pride Parade…”
