The Associated Press reports:
BELGRADE, Serbia — A far right Serbian leader has gone on trial for allegedly orchestrating violence during October gay pride march when more than 100 people were injured.
Mladen Obradovic from nationalist Obraz (Honor) group denied responsibility Thursday during the opening hearing for the attacks on police during the Oct. 10 event.
Obradovic and 13 others have been charged with violent behaviour at a public gathering. They face up to 12 years in prison.
Far-right groups attacked the police securing last year’s gay pride march. Serbia’s pro-Western government has pledged to protect human rights as it seeks EU membership.
