Los Angeles Times reports:
San Diego County Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis said Thursday that she plans to run for San Diego mayor next year, hoping to succeed termed-out Jerry Sanders.
Dumanis, 59, a Republican and former Superior Court judge now in her third term as district attorney, made the announcement in an e-mail to friends. The only other announced candidate is City Councilman Carl DeMaio.
Dumanis promised to end the rancor that has gripped City Hall over pension issues, taxation and budget cutting.
