MIKA RELEASES “ORIGIN OF LOVE’’ VIDEO
NEW ALBUM: THE ORIGIN OF LOVE – OUT OCTOBER 16
MIKA has just released a short film for “The Origin of Love”, the title track from his forthcoming album due out on Universal Republic on October 16. About the film, Mika said: “This latest short film is a collaboration with the Chilean director Cristián Jiménez. After seeing his film Bonsai, this seemed like an exciting match. I wanted to take the kaleidoscopic dreaminess of the song and pair it up with Cristián’s more realistic, surreal and moving imagery. When making these films, I give complete freedom to the director we are collaborating with, in a way that is never possible with a music video. This short film was made in Santiago with Cristián’s close team and friends, and with a lot of love.” Watch the arresting video HERE on Brightcove and HERE on YouTube.
Mika has recently announced a Fall US tour. The initial run of dates sold out in 15 minutes and second dates were added in New York and Los Angeles. Tickets are still available for the second Los Angles show. Mika also just released “Celebrate”, the album’s lead single to international acclaim. The “Celebrate” single is now available on iTunes.
Following up his multi-million selling worldwide smash ‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’ (which debuted in every single iTunes top ten around the world), The Origin of Love is Mika’s third album.
Completely self-created and self-imagined, ‘The Origin of Love’ has been a two-year DIY labour of love for Mika who has put together everything on the record himself, flying around the world under his own steam personally assembling an incredible roll call of collaborators – In addition to Nick Littlemore and Pharrell Williams, Mika has also worked with William Orbit, Benny Benassi, FrYars, Greg Wells (Katy Perry, Adele), and Klas Ahlund (Robyn’s Body Talk) as well as working with some brand new unsigned musicians he found himself online.
Mika spent most of 2010 and 2011 on a massive Global tour playing hundreds of shows to sell-out audiences across Europe, Asia and North America. The fall dates will be US audiences’ first chance to see the new album performed live.
Mika has now sold over 8 million records and Gold or Platinum awards in 32 countries worldwide across his previous two albums ‘Life in Cartoon Motion’ and ‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’, winning Brit and MTV Awards in the process.
