KAYE today announced a fall tour and premiered a new cover of Britney Spears? ?Oops!… I Did It Again? following the release of her acclaimed debut solo EP ?Honey,? which earned praise from NPR Weekend Edition, Stereogum, NYLON, Billboard, ELLE.com, and more. Earlier this week, she also penned an op-ed for The Talkhouse about her experience as an Asian American in the music industry (LINK). Her fall tour, which kicks off this Friday Oct. 7th with a headlining show at Brooklyn Night Bazaar, includes dates in Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto and more (full schedule below). ?For ticket information, click onto http://kayeofficial.com/welcome/

?The ‘Honey’ EP– demoed on KAYE’s laptop while on tours with San Fermin — is a five-song introduction to the next phase in her evolution as a songwriter and powerhouse singer. The EP is a palette of polarities, reflecting the taste of a musician who was once equally as obsessed with Destiny’s Child as she was with Nine Inch Nails. “Honey? is a fierce self-love anthem featuring scuzzy guitars and doo-wop harmonies, while “UUU” employs grunge bass flecked with the skittery percussion of 80s-era Janet Jackson. Standout opener “Armies” features KAYE’s acrobatic voice detailing manipulative emotional warfare as cause of a crumbling relationship. There are worlds to explore within each song, and it’s only the beginning.

About KAYE:

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, KAYE spent her childhood all over the globe, relocating to Singapore, Hong Kong, Arizona and Michigan all before she turned 18. Growing up in the suburbs of Phoenix, she became a full-fledged music obsessive, playing classical piano and teaching herself punk songs on her mother’s nylon string guitar. Upon moving to New York, KAYE began playing bass and guitar in a few groups, where a mutual friend connected her with San Fermin’s Ellis Ludwig-Leone. Impressed, Ludwig-Leone invited her to be San Fermin’s new lead female vocalist as part of a European tour, leading to a long-term relationship, including a collaboration on their most recent album, ‘Jackrabbit’ (Downtown).

As frontwoman, Charlene Kaye has played network television, major festivals like Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, and many sold-out shows. Tours with St. Vincent, Arctic Monkeys, and alt-J, among others, have earned her rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal and more.
