Los Angeles, CA. The ever enigmatic pop singer Sir JET aka Joel Evan Tye, has started a fundraiser to create a music video for his upcoming single “Like God,” which will feature a wedding between JET and his male partner. The plan is to use the video as a joint venture with a marriage equality charity to raise awareness about same-sex marriage. The video will be on youtube and be monetized, so that each view will receive money which will be 100% donated to the charity. “Like God” is off Sir JET’s upcoming EP /Shout-out to the Lonely/, and is JET’s first ballad since 2009’s /Logo Click List/ hit “I’ll Keep Smiling.”
“It started with a shoe, a very beautiful shoe I saw while roaming Hollywood Blvd,” explains JET. “A thought came to me a few hours later: ‘I want to get married in those shoes.’ I laughed when I first heard this, but then I started to see the outfit, walking down the aisle, and then suddenly ‘Like God,’ began playing in my head and I started to see the whole concept for the video. Tears came to my eyes and I realized it was a sign this video had to be made, not only for me, but it could
really help a lot of people.” A story-teller at heart, JET explains the video will have a lot of meaning: “It’s more than just a wedding though, this video will show the development of a real, loving relationship. I can’t give everything away, but there’ll be all facets of a relationship expressed, from the happy times to the fears to the fights, to the unconditional love, plus a little bit of that Sir JET flair!” Several celebrities are also rumored to be attending JET’s “wedding.”
To donate to the project, please visit www.sirjet.com. Anyone who donates will also be invited to be a part of the wedding scene as a wedding guest. “I did the math. If as few as 1000 people donate $10 the goal will be met!” JET is also looking for physical donations for the project, such as a wedding cake, floral design, and costume design (JET’s wedding ensemble will also be auctioned off to raise more charity funds after the video is completed).
