Masterbeat 2012 Rings In The New Year

THE LARGEST NEW YEARS EVENTS IN THE WORLD RETURNS TO LOS ANGELES… FOR ONE LAST TIME

The last blow-out party of the year returns to Los Angeles this New Years Eve weekend. Masterbeat 2012 takes place over three days and nights from Friday, December 30 – Monday, January 1st at four of Los Angeles’ finest venues: The Mayan, Avalon, Arena Café and the spectacular Hollywood Palladium. The question this year, based on the ancient Mayan’s prediction that the world will end in 2012, is “Where will you be when the world comes to an end?” Masterbeat offers the idea that we should just “Keep on Dancing Until The World Ends!”

Founder Brett Henrichsen launched the annual Masterbeat New Years events with “Masterbeat Millennium” in 1999 in Palm Springs. “Interestingly, back then we thought the world would end with Y2K,” he remarks. The events eventually moved to Los Angeles in 2003 and have grown to become the international destination for New Year’s on the gay party map. Interestingly, Masterbeat New Year’s is the only major gay party happening on New Year’s Eve itself. While other gay meccas like Miami and New York have a dance party during the weekend, they are not on New Year’s Eve itself. If you want to ring in the New Year with over 5000 revelers from around the world – Masterbeat 2012 in Los Angeles is the place to do it.

Through its twelve years, Masterbeat has delivered some of the biggest and most awe-inspiring parties on the West Coast. This year’s festivities promise nothing less.

The weekend begins Friday December 30 with “Last Dance of the World” at Mayan Theatre (1038 S Hill Street) from 9pm – 6am. The Mayan is known for having one of the world’s best club sound systems and one of the world’s largest moving disco balls. Masterbeat will add a 3d high resolution LED wall and custom full color lasers. Thundering beats will be provided by DJ’s Tony Moran (New York) and Ana Paula (Rio de Janeiro).

The highlight of the weekend, “New Years Eve 2012”, will take place at the Hollywood Palladium (6215 W. Sunset) from 9pm – 5am. The Hollywood Palladium has hosted the Grammy’s, the Frank Sinatra orchestra, the Lawrence Welk show and almost every major rock band in the world. The concert venue closed in 2006 after Masterbeat’s NYE 2006, and has now been completely restored to its original glory. Masterbeat will transform the space into the country’s largest mega-club with a custom installed 4 point line array sound system, a full motion lighting and truss system, and 360 degree video walls. Spinning duo Ralphi Rosario and Abel Aguilera, better known together as Rosabel, will headline the night. Masterbeat’s world famous video countdown and a special surprise performance will usher in the end of the world, or a new beginning, at midnight.

If the Mayan prediction is wrong and the world hasn’t been destroyed by the apocalypse, then the party is just beginning! It’s just a short distance from the Palladium to the “First Dance” afterhours at Arena Café (6655 Santa Monica Blvd) from 4am – Noon. Masterbeat is installing a new line array sound system in the club and everyone’s favorite afterhours DJ Paulo will be manning the decks.

Finally, Monday is an official holiday, so why not continue the party through Sunday night? Brett Henrichsen winds down the weekend at “Recovery”, taking place Sunday, January 1 from 9pm – 6am at Avalon in Hollywood (1735 Vine St). Henrichsen launched this party in 2007 and is excited to take revelers on a musical journey from nightfall to dawn on the night of New Year’s Day where everyone can celebrate the fact the world is still here!

Take 6 international superstar DJ’s, 4 world famous venues, over 40,000 watts of sound, 16 argon lasers, 20,000 feet of LED video walls, over 400 intelligent lights, spread it across 4 incredible parties over 3 nights, add over 5000 guests from around the world and you have Masterbeat 2012: The ONLY place to ring in the New Year.
