His Previous single ‘Glow’ receive major radio support. This, alongside an expanding fan base. With his new single “One Step Closer” Tyrell Witherspoon is ready soared to the top of the charts.
Tyrell Witherspoon talked to us exclusively about “One Step Closer” and his upcoming new album:
This track is my first collaboration with local Vancouver DJ and producer, Nick Bertossi. This is a sizzler single in anticipation of my new EP to be released this August. I think that listeners of mine will find my new track and album to have a deeper, darker and mature sound. I am really proud of the new songs that Nick and I are working on and I cannot wait for everyone to hear them.
With this new album, I am really trying to break through as Canada’s first Top 40 openly gay male artist. I was able to gain some national radio airplay with my previous single, “Glow” so I am hoping that with the help and support of the LGBT community across Canada, I can become a shining representative for us in a fairly heterosexual market. With big thanks to artists like Ricky Martin and Adam Lambert who are truly paving the way, I know that I can help break down even more doors for other artists like me out there.
Tyrell Witherspoon’s new single, “One Step Closer” is now available on iTunes Worldwide.

Ever since he was a young boy, Tyrell has known that he was destined for the stage. Whether it was doing aerobics in front of the TV or holding a microphone on stage with his dad, Tyrell was ready to perform.
Tyrell played violin and piano during his school years. He also took vocal lessons and competed in local festivals and talent competitions. He began gymnastics in middle school and even became an all-around provincial champion. After a few years, Tyrell made the switch to ballet, tap and jazz and never looked back.
Having caught the dancing bug, Tyrell began to perform in his school’s musicals and church plays. Eventually, he made his way on to the proffesional theatre stage after graduation from high school.
After a few shows, working for Royal Carribean Cruise Lines and teaching dance, Tyrell decided to shake things up and made a move out West to Vancouver, BC. There, he booked a recurring role on the CW’s “HELLCATS.” Working with some of the industry’s best, Tyrell began to take a whole new hold of his career.
Tyrell doesn’t pin himself to one area of the industry. Tyrell can be seen teaching dance in the city, dancing or acting on stage or screen or performing one of his latest tracks at a club or festival. The sky is the limit for Tyrell and there is no stopping him anytime soon.
