Woody Woodruff Named INTERNATIONAL MR. LEATHER 2012


IMRL Press Release – CHICAGO (May 27, 2012) – Woody Woodruff, Mr. Michigan Leather 2012, has been named International Mr. Leather 2012, winning over a field of 49. He is sponsored by MML Weekend of Grand Rapids, MI.

A resident of Farmington Hills, MI, he works as an Account Manger for a commercial bank. Among his community service involvement, he is an advocate for encouraging people to stand up and get involved.

The 34th annual International Mr. Leather Contest was held Sunday, May 27th in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Chicago. This year’s entertainment was provided by the infamous Sharon McNight who was joined on-stage with a surprise appearance by
the incomperable Bruce Vilanch. Karen Ultra and John Pendal served as co-emcees for the the entire weekend.

Overall attendance was up considerably as a testament to the improving economy. Some 17,000 guests attended the many various IML and IML related events held throughout the Hyatt Regency and other venues around the city.

As the International Mr. Leather 2012 titleholder, Woody Woodruff will represent IML and the leather community over the next year. He also receives a prize package that includes $5,000 in travel funds courtesy of Orbitz.com plus donations from businesses and organizations supporting the leather and fetish community.

A.C. Demidont, Mr. Eagle NYC 2012 was named first runner up. He is sponsored by The Eagle NYC of New York, NY. Kevin Jordan, Mr. DC Eagle 2012,was named second runner up. He is sponsored by The DC Eagle, Onyx Mid-Atlantic and Highwaymen TNT, all of Washington, DC.

Contestants are judged on a variety of criteria, including community involvement, speech, presentation and overall presence. The IML 2012 Judges included: Stephen Blackwell, Palm Springs, CA, Brian Conway, Denver, CO, Jaak Evert, Tartu, Estonia, Eric Guttierez, Anecy, France, Dave Hughes, New York, NY, Steve Ranger, Washington, DC, Dave Watt, Grand Rapids, MI, Ira C. Smith, Fort Lauderdale, FL and Andrea Zanin, Toronto, Canada. Tallymasters for the weekend were George Brown, Grand Rapids, MI and Paul Cantrell, Chicago, IL.

The winner of the 20th Annual International Mr. Bootblack Competition is Nick Elliott, winning out a pool of 5 contestants. He is from Portland, OR and is sponsored by Blackout Leather Productions also of Portland, OR

Over 2,000 leather folk attended the 34th annual International Mr. Leather Contest. The weekend kicked-off on Friday, May 25th with Opening Ceremonies at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, where all 54 contestants were introduced. On Saturday, contestants returned to the stage at the Hyatt Regency for the Physique Competition (Pecs and Personality). Sunday’s contest was followed by the IML Victory Celebration Party at Chicago’s House of Blues. The “traditional” final blow out of the weekend, the high-energy Black and Blue Ball, capped-off the IML weekend on Monday at Excalibur Nightclub.

This year’s Leather Market at the Hyatt Regency featured more than 120 leather and fetish vendors, clubs and organizations and welcomed up to 6,000 visitors each day.

The 35th annual International Mr. Leather Weekend will be held May 24 – 27, 2012 (Memorial Day Weekend). The Chicago Marriott Downtown/Magnificent Mile, 540 N.
