New Episode “Yoko Ono Homo” of BLOOMERS Showcases Gay Guy / Straight Guy Best Bro-mance
HOLLYWOOD, CA – December 8th, 2011 – From Creator / Executive Producer Matt Palazzolo, Executive Producer Fernanda Espíndola, and Directors Henryk Cymerman (Producer of the Patrick Wilson film Brothers Three: An American Gothic) and Tim Russ (Star Trek: Voyager, Live Free or Die Hard, Samantha Who?) comes a new show about a group of 20-somethings growing up in the city, but this group of friends includes a strict Muslim surfer chick, a Brazilian immigrant adopted into an African-American family, and a gay guy / straight guy best bro-mance. www.BloomersTheSeries.com
“This Thursday’s episode, ‘Yoko Ono Homo,’ is one of my absolute favorites of the season,” says show creator & actor, Matt Palazzolo, “It explores what happens to a best friendship between guys when one of them comes out of the closet. It’s not the same old ‘straight guy distances himself from gay guy’ story you expect, though.”
Growing up in a city like Downtown Los Angeles is never easy, but this time it’s happening to an unlikely set of friends.
Enter straight Ross (played by Nathan Frizzell) & gay Brooke (played by Matt Palazzolo). Ross and some of their friends decide to take Brooke out to a Yoko Ono concert for his birthday, but Ross’ constant use of the insensitive phrase “no homo” throws a wrench in their plans. After the pair get trapped at a gas station downtown, they lay it out on one another and Brooke must learn to take responsibility for how defensive and fearful he had become towards his own best friend after coming out. Once, again, these friends must get the message:
Grow Up Already.
“I was introduced to this group of very talented actors & filmmakers through a friend and when they asked me to collaborate, I didn’t hesitate,” says Director, Henryk Cymerman, “What attracted me to the project was Matt’s writing, which is very ‘crispy’ and extremely tapped into contemporary language. Each character is very true, almost like we didn’t invent them, but we just brought them over and let them be. It’s exciting for me to work on a scripted project that is honest in a way that is hard to find elsewhere. I’m looking forward to working on future episodes of Bloomers.”
