While I haven’t gone to see it yet, I do plan on viewing J. Edgar quite soon. I’m a big fan of writer Dustin Lance Black’s previous works and think Leonardo DiCaprio is an exceptional actor, so this movie does have the makings of being an all around winner.

I most look forward to how the film will tackle all of the secrets Hoover had and also how it addresses his sexuality. I’ve always thought of Hoover as quite an enigmatic fellow, so hopefully this movie will help shed some light on the man many of us knows little to nothing about.

I saw the movie yesterday and have to say it is very well made film. The cast is first rate, w/ DiCaprio, his blue-green eyes hidden behind brown contacts, immersing himself in the role of Hoover, giving one of the best performances of his career. Also, Hammer gives Tolson a quietness that lets the audience into his thoughts. Judy Dench is also strong as Ma Hoover.

In the end, however, the film belongs to DiCaprio, who even in all that makeup, commands the screen.

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but am greatly looking forward to it. I was always fascinated by Hoover and the dichotomy between his personal and public life. Not to mention all of the rumors and false accusations against him. He certainly wasn’t a nice man, but was an intriguing one, so hopefully the movie can explore that in an interesting new take.
