Outfest To Honor Adam Shankman With Visionary Award

Director Adam Shankman will be honored by Outfest with the visionary award for his contribution to gay cinema at its annual Legacy Awards ceremony at the DGA Theater on Oct. 20.

Outfest is thrilled to be honoring Adam Shankman with this year’s Visionary Award for his inspirational work that has made a lasting impact on LGBT culture.

Shankman’s career began as a dance and physical comedy choreographer. His distinctive style can be seen in a host of projects from THE ADDAMS FAMILY to BOOGIE NIGHTS to his Bob Fosse Award-winning work on THE FLINTSTONES.

In 2001, Shankman directed his first film THE WEDDNING PLANNER, and since then he has gone on to make many more, including HAIRSPRAY, BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE, and CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN 2. He is currently in post-production on the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical ROCK OF AGES, starring Julianne Hough, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J Blige, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin and Tom Cruise.
